In 2022, over one million vehicles were reported stolen across the United States. The majority of these thefts occurred in large metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City with the most common type of vehicle stolen being the Honda Civic. In most cases, the vehicles were never recovered.
